Dreams

This week on my blog I am very excited to bring up the superstition on dreams! I was a little lost at what I wanted to do this week when I found out about this one. When I mean dreams I mean the meanings of certain things inside your dreams. For instance, I am always having dreams of myself falling off a cliff. I am pretty sure I am not the only one who has those dreams too, the ones where you are falling and then suddenly wake up a bit frightened. Now I am anxious to get started because there are some very interesting superstitions on dreams. Be ready to be surprised!

To begin, these are all things that give you a sign through something you see in your dream. There is so many but I decided to pick the most interesting in my mind. Also things that is more likely to be seen in most people dreams. My warning is, if you are afraid of these superstitions coming true maybe you should stop here, a lot of the tales are not good luck. Things such as, if you dream of birth, it is a sign of death. To carry a closed umbrella in the rain is very unfortunate because it creates bad luck for the dreamer’s business plans. Although to dream of carrying an open umbrella in the rain is very lucky sign for most endeavours. With every negative there is always positive too, to dream of a smiling face can signify pleasant new friends or it can mean something different, it can explain reasons for financial gains. To dream of unpleasant or gross looking face can portray loss. Other things on the face is: to dream you are washing your face “ denotes a necessity to atone for some past indiscretion”( corsinet.com), so bad luck. To see a face of a stranger signifies an approaching change of residence. Out of all this I think the only dreams I can remember would have been, actually to my knowledge I have had any dreams with any of those symbols. It is weird because I do have to be honest, I have very strange dreams, and every morning when I wake up I really do wonder how dreams are produced because our minds can think of really weird things. Sometimes my dreams are related to something in my life or it is a complete random dream.

There is so many more I could explain to you but I do not want to bore you lastly the one I would like to explain is if you are dreaming about falling. It indicates a loss of emotions or of self-control. It could represent our insecurities or lack of self-confidence, a fear of failure or can show how someone cannot cope with a situation. In my opinion it makes perfect sense for a falling dream. I would have never even thought about that.

  1. Hey there Rache! Just wanted to let you know I really liked this post, especially the part where it said what different things symbolize in our dreams. I always wonder if dreams have true meaning. It is one of the superstitions I guess I find most interesting that I hope to be true. It's nice to believe in stuff like that. I was wondering if you had any other links that explain symbolism behind other aspects of our dreams? I really enjoy learning about it. Great post.

  2. I love your blog post! I always find it interesting to know what dreams mean. I once had the same dream; I fell off a cliff into the darkness, but there was no floor so I kept falling into nothing. Sometimes, I try to come up with my own theories of what my dreams mean. A friend of mine bought a book about dreams and it tells you everything you would like to know about them!

  4. I really enjoy reading your blogs Rach! This really capt my attention, I love how you talked about the symbolism of things in our dream! And you are completely right, I've talked to so many of my friends about my dreams falling off a cliff and they all related with me! I heard that if you wake up during your dream, falling off a cliff, then you're okay. However, if you actually fall down the cliff and die in your dream, then you death is in the near future. But, I definitely believe in superstitions and that they can't explain our life. Very interesting :)

  5. Very interesting blog. I always have the weirdest dreams and wonder where they come from and what they really mean. What I hate the most about dreams is not necessarily the superstitions, but the fact that the food doesn’t taste like anything! I get so mad when I wake up, not to mention hungry too.

  6. I thoroughly enjoy your blog Rachelle. One of the things that have caught my eye is this blog regarding dreams. It holds much pertinent information to me as I am a big fan of lucid dreaming and using dreams to unlock the secrets of the mind. One of my greatest philosophies have been discovered in a dream. With new found knowledge I hope I can further dive into the realm of the subconscious. I do have one question for you though. What are your thoughts on lucid dreaming and have you ever experienced it before? just curious :)
